Anyone able to get multiple users on battle.net behind one router?

The general consensus seems to be that it does not work, however I seem to remember someone saying otherwise in a thread once, but I can't find it and don't remember who it was.

So, everyone report their experiences please. Has anyone been able to log two users on to battle.net behind the same router and get them into the same game?

Remember: thats the SAME game. We (me and roomies behind router) can all get in as long as we have different CD keys, but we cant all join the same game.

It might depend on the game, not sure
I know I had problems with the zone a while back.
I could not play the same game off two PC's, but I could play different games at the same time.
As far as I know, I am able to play Diablo II on battlenet at the same time, and with the same CD key, from the LOD exp.

I am using Sygate on my server, connected with cable.
Dont know if that makes a difference.

Which router do you have?

I am really starting to wonder about getting a linksys router/hub.

I dont seem to have any problems with anything on the net, but see a lot of people asking about these types of issues when using the home routers.

Good luck

i think that battle.net sees your router's ip as one computer and won't let you join.

that's just imo.

Often time a friend of mine will borrow a PC and router and set it up so he and his girlfriend can play side by side in the same game. They have had no issues with it as of yet.

I sent a question to blizzard tech, but I got kind of a generic pre-hashed response. It gave me . this link. Maybe someone else will read this and get a few ideas.

I read this, and my interpretation behind this is that for the purposes of my scenario (and anyone else using a hardware router) the "proxy server" it constantly refers to can be equated w/ my home router, since my router uses dhcp to provide all my comps w/ LAN IPs.

Quote:
Blizzard doesn't specifically support proxy servers. If you really want to host a game on your server computer, then you can disable the proxy temporarily. That'll let you host a game that can be joined by people from across the internet (and Diablo should display your external IP address), but such a game probably can't be joined by others on your LAN (since the LAN computers, now cut off from their proxy, can only see internal IP addresses).
I think this is what I'm trying to explain. I can host a game on my "server computer" (my box) and others on the internet can join the game, but other boxes on my LAN wont be able to join the game.

If anyone can think of a workaround for this please share. My router (and I image most people's) uses dhcp to give LAN IP's. Would disabling dhcp and giving each box a static LAN IP help in anyway?

I think this topic may have evolved into the complexity necessary to post to the networking forum.

Reading the article it appears to be referring to actual proxies and not a router. Your router should have an external IP addy.

Quote:
Because proxy users do not have an external IP address, they cannot have a direct link to other players who do have an external address. The host of an Open Battle.net or Open TCP/IP game must have a direct link to each player in the game - therefore, players will not be able to connect to a game created by a proxy user.
Are you trying for a Other Multiplayer game or Battle net?

Blizzard does have a way to get around the question.

Well ok so if there isn't a direct solution to the problem. how about an indirect...

Is there a way to go through the router for the connection purposes but keep your IP?

Granted its goign to be an internal IP which may not work, BUT the point being you now have 2 IP's instead of one.

What I want to do is be able to have all three comps in my house be able to play in the same game w/ people from outside (on battle.net)

We want to be all on the same team. We can all be on bnet at the same time, playing games against people on the net, but we cant all be in the same game.

Prettybean, I was thinking that for all intesive purposes, my router is like a proxy server because all data sent/received goes through it.

I have two PCs here that can both be in the same game on Battle net. I have a Linksys router. The only thing I may have done differently is set the port forwarding options to be compatible with what D2 uses. I did this for Other Multiplayer though originally. I am confused as to why it doesn't work for you.
