ASUS A7N8X Deluxe RAM and Processor Issues
Hey guys, so far so good with the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, however I have had some issues and I'm looking for suggestions and help with this problem:
1. Bought DDRAM 256MB|32X64 PC-2700 CRUCIAL RAM and it would load into winXP and then just crash/restart...so I RMA'd it to Newegg this morning..... Wondering if there is any type of RAM that is fully compatible with the ASUS mobo, looking to just get a least one stick of good 256MB RAM.
Also is it ok to mix RAM, like Crucial with Corsair??
2. Also bought the AMD Athlon 2600+ Barton processor and it's only running at 1.07MHZ??? What's the deal with that? I thought it was a lot better than that, is there a known issue with the mobo?
Thanks again guys.

Thanks again guys. | Sometimes mixing brands of memory doesn't always work out.
Also, adjusting your FSB should fix your CPU issue.

FSB? Is that something in the BIOS?

EDIT: Actually for your motherboard the FSB setting is a jumper, but it's set to 333/266 by default, so as long as you didn't change the jumper around it should be fine.
So, I think the problem is your clock frequency, but unfortunately I don't know what the clock frequency of a 2600+ is, I'm guessing it's 166, but I'm not totally sure.

I don't have the Deluxe version but I haven't had any problems with my dual crucial 512 pc2700's on the regular board. Are you sure the RAM was seated properly? I had the same problem with my processor running slow and Evil is right about the FSB. i don't remember what its called or where it is in the BIOS, but I know it's above the Multiplier setting. just put it up one setting and you will see the difference.

sorry i have a 2500+ it has had some known issues, for instance only running at round 1.1 GHZ, half of it's potential, any tips on where to find out how to fix this or overclock this baby?
Better yet how to tweak the settings, FSB, VCore, Multiplier, any tips, warnings?

Again, the slow processpr speed is directly related to the speed you have set in your BIOS. The FSB should be set to 166 under the advanced chipset options. I have some Mushkin ram that they guarantee to work w/ the a7n8x. www.mushkin.com |

it should be set to 166? I thought it was supposed to be set higher like 185x12.5@1.85V or something like 200x11 or 205x10.5@1.87V, i thought that was more overclocking than FSB at 166, that's a really low, the board alone supports 333FSB

| 166x2 = 333(approx) That's where you're getting the 333. The settings you gave are for overclocking. I would get everything stable and slowly bump up the fsb and voltage.
