Problem removing software

I am having a problem removing a program listing from the Remove/Install programs window of my ME system. The issue is that someone removed the program from the C drive and all the folders along with it without using the Remove/Install programs option. Now when I go to the Remove/Install programs and select the program for removal I am getting a message stating the program is no longer installed, but the program listing stays and I can not get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time

You can download a utility off the Internet that allows you to modify the Add/Remove programs list

I *think* the Microsoft TweakUI power toy has that ability.

You may also be able to do it through the registry although that's not the best way to do it.

that listing is stored in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

simply delete the appropriate entries there...

I want to thank both of you for your help. I tried the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Uninstall and first off I learned a great deal and it removed the file from that registry but still remains in the remove/add programs. This is the error message I am receiving now: "unable to locate the installation log file C:\h\cots\CJSM 6231\unist.isu uninstallation will not continue. I beleive that this program was originally loaded from a external hard drive that would explain the "h"

Thanks again
