WinXP better for games than 98se?

This probably seems like a newb question, but I pretty much use my computer for gaming, and if XP is better for gaming than 98se, then upgrading i shall go!

thanks for your input

Depends..
If you're including old DOS games then I wouldn't trust it.

You'd better have a decent machine too as XP is a H O G
128MB of RAM is pretty decent with 98... with XP I wouldn't dare go below 256!

Win2k is also NT based like XP.. just w/o all the BS eye candy to slow down the box

I myself prefer 2k.. search through here... there's a gazillion and more threads debating it

Depends on ur graphics card & stuff. I prefer the winxp over my other sys on 98, but the xp also has a geforce4 graph. I would go w/the xp, but it depends.

When you have powerful enough hardware to play the latest games, then yes XP will be a bit better.

From the hardware you listed, you'd be better with 2k or XP. And with such power, you won't even notice if the XP eye candy makes it slow. So go as you prefer between the 2.

I say XP is better. Loading times cut in half when I upgraded. This is loading Unreal Tournament 2003 on a 1ghz 256mb machine.
