Processor heat probe

I just bought a Thermaltake Xaser III case which comes with a CPU temp monitor with LCD display built in. The actual probe used to monitor the CPU temperature is a small, insulated thermo-couple which is taped with special tape to the underside of the CPU with the two leads running out between the pins. Therefore, the probe is installed first and then the cpu is mounted in the socket with the probe ( i woud guess ) being somewhat compressed between the two. I am installing this on an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Mobo with an AMD Thorougbred 2400+ . Since I plan on overclocking this to the limit, I am worried that the heat or possible poor insulation could cause this thermocouple to short out my chip. I plan to use the mobo's on-board heat sensing capabilities to run the CPU fan, but it would be nice to have this additional LCD display constantly showing me the temp of the CPU. Does anyone have any experience with this type of sensing system? If so, can you offer any advice on how to prevent any possible troubles?

It will be fine...they're designed to go under the CPU without a problem...the wire's leading out of the socket aren't being pressed down because the CPU doesn't go into the socket very tight.

Just remember, those temperatures may be a little lower than what you're really running.

Thanks for the info, Telexen! This is my first computer build and I wasn't quite sure how tight the fit is between CPU/socket. Do you have any idea how far off the temp readings from the probe might be and how badly lagged they are for the mobo monitoring system and/or case temp probe? Also, what temp would it be wise to set as the upper limit for my mobo to power off the system and for my case temp monitor to alarm at? My overclocking book says that the max temp for this chip is 85 Celsius, but I suspect that it would be smart to stay well under that.
