Processor heat probe
I just bought a Thermaltake Xaser III case which comes with a CPU temp monitor with LCD display built in. The actual probe used to monitor the CPU temperature is a small, insulated thermo-couple which is taped with special tape to the underside of the CPU with the two leads running out between the pins. Therefore, the probe is installed first and then the cpu is mounted in the socket with the probe ( i woud guess ) being somewhat compressed between the two. I am installing this on an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Mobo with an AMD Thorougbred 2400+ . Since I plan on overclocking this to the limit, I am worried that the heat or possible poor insulation could cause this thermocouple to short out my chip. I plan to use the mobo's on-board heat sensing capabilities to run the CPU fan, but it would be nice to have this additional LCD display constantly showing me the temp of the CPU. Does anyone have any experience with this type of sensing system? If so, can you offer any advice on how to prevent any possible troubles?
