That processor will work fine in your motherboard. Your board supports up to the Athlon XP 3000+ as far as I know.

is this a good compination to overclock with, any suggestions with the fan i should u to cool of this bad boi im so excited my first comp that i can try o/c

on top of what i want to order these are the other pieces of the puzzle

saphire 9000 128 pro
if neccesary i ll put my sound blaster live value! hmm is this better than the onboard sound card that abit will provide me with ?
7200 rpm 40 g hard drive
lg 52x 24x 52x burner
an toshiba dvd rom
an also does neone know what the settings are for this cpu an motherboard so i noe wut my limit is when o/c with the best fan i can get my hands on and will an aopen power supply hmm 235watts do :S thanks so much to everyone who replies peace!!

hi i would get a 400 watt power supply or a 350 watt and i heard that that motherboard is good for overclocking i am not sure about the rest

looks like it will work together i not sure about the sound card i like the stuff you picked i just got my computer about 2 weeks ago but i am not done yet i got my case motherboard processor floppy cdrom and i got to get my ram video card and my hard drive

You definately need to get ATLEAST a 350 watt power supply. A 400 watt would be better. You picked a good board and processor. I got that same processor running at 2.2ghz (3200+ speeds) and I haven't pushed it yet. I think that board supports dual channel memory , get 2 sticks of 256ddr ram so you can use the dual channel capabilities and it sounds like you're planning on overclocking so get atleast pc3200 memory that way you'll have plenty of room for overclocking.As far as fan and heatsink if your gonna overclock and can afford it get a thermalright slk800 and a vantec tornado fan. I don't think the stock heatsink and fan will be very adequate for overclocking.

Too late bud, that sale on NewEgg just expired. I think it only lasted about 4 hours, and now the retail price of the 2500+ just raised up more than before.

I saw that deal too, and I couldn't believe it was $3 cheaper than the 2400+, and this has a 333FSB and a Barton core!

HEy guys thankx alot for the tips i still remain with a question thou witch ram would you suggest i use i want to get a samsung 512 ddr 400mhz fsb will this give me good o/c ability and if ne one knows any site that can help me with overclock cuz im new at this an i dun wana ruin this project if u noe wut i mean again thanks alot peps greatly appriciated
