Could I replace my heatsink fan w/ another normal 60mm fan?

Could I replace my heatsink fan w/ another normal 60mm fan? I need to replace it becuase its very loud and sqeak's sometimes. Could this be done by just replacing it by a 60mm fan?

Hello, yeah you can replace it with another 60mm just make sure youcheck the decibels on the new one or it could be even worse than the one on there. Also you can use the 80mm with an adapter, those are found any where PC mods are sold, like nexfan.com.
Hope this helps!

Does it matter if the fan has 3pin connector? Because my heatsink fan has the 3pin connector (3 wires connecting to mobo)?

also, if i did a 80mm fan w/ adapter, would a LED light give off too much heat?

Sorry, I didn't realize you were changing it with the same type.

Your temps shouldn't change at all...

yes you can replace your current fan with another one, and still be fine with temperatures. what are your current temperatures at idle and at full load? if you aren't above 50 at full load, you could probably stand to have a percent smaller fan, as well as quieter.

i would suggest getting another 60mm, as an 80 with a funnel will cause more resistance and pressure making it louder and less efficient.

the led's will add zero heat to your system. i have one right here and the existance of the fan causes my system to be 7 degrees cooler.

It should'nt be too hard to find, Thermaltake makes a 3 pin Smart fan: "The Smart Fan adjusts its speed according to internal case temperatures which minimizes unnecessary noise but ensures maximum cooling when needed." It's also 80mm, they even make one that lights when powered on has a connector for HD so it will change colors from red to blue when HD is being used, just in case you want to show it off. I have one and have not had any trouble with temps. You can always lap the CPU if you want to bring temps down further.

hmmm well all the 60mm fans i see have a louder decibal than 80mm. maybe my fan isnt that loud but compared to other "brand name" computers it is. Whats the decibel mesaureing tool called? Maybe I could borrow one. Ill post back with my idle and full load temps (im assuming the temps on the cpu).

Edit: Just played some hardcore Unreal II (thats a pretty good load for a 1333mhz AMD) and my temp right afterwards was 58 C. My idle temp was 52 C. Hmmm, looks to be a little hot, is there any way I can cool down my heatsink and quiet it more?
