might sound a bit daft but check all your connections and make sure they are pushed all the way home. what are the specifications you have just installed? what is the psu wattage etc
the more info the more people will be able to help

Ok to start Zappster is right you'll need to post all the specs on your system so we know what we are dealing with here. But to make a quick diagnostic pull everything off board except the cpu hs/fan of course and ram and video just the things you need to have it post. Pull the board out of the case place it on a book or some non conductive material and plug the p/s back in. Make sure your cpu fan is plugged into the board and has a good connection as some boards require the fan feedback to post. Make sure your clear cmos jumper is not set to clear. Switch it on to see if it works.

One quick note is you want to make sure your ram and video card are seated properly. As Zapperster has asked whats the rating on the power supply? Another quick shot in the dark check your wires for the power and reset buttons as well as the buttons themselves A sticky button can cause such issues{first hand experience talking here}

It is also possible you have your "on" switch hooked up wrong. Look over your connections and the manuel to make sure the power switch plug is in the right place.

Hang in there...If it were too easy it wouldn't be fun!

Make sure your fsb and cpu setting is set up correctly (that is if it is done by jumpers on the motherboard). I just built a system and that was my problem. (Why nothing came on but the post LCD).

Thanks a million to all you guys for your suggestions..i went ahead and removed everything and started fresh, with just the hdd, cpu/hs & f, and my vid card. Still no luck.

Sorry for neglecting to put up the specs, i totally forgot, here goes:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe V2.0
Athlon XP2500 "Barton" 333
Enermax EG365P-VE(FC). 350W
Samsung 1.44MB FDD DRIVE -
WD "SE" 120GB 7200RPM WD1200JB
Crucial Micron 512MB PC 2700 DDR RAM - CT6464Z335
Logitech Cordless MX Duo w/MX700 Mouse
ATI RADEON 9500 PRO 128MB DDR
Plextor 52x32x52 PlexWriter Premium BLACK
Samsung SyncMaster 955DF 19"
US Robotics USR5610B 56K V.92 Performance Pro

The only thing that is "on" is the "PWR_LED1" bulb on the board itself. According to the mb manual:
"When lit, the onboard (GREEN LED) indicates that the system is ON, in sleep mode, or in soft-off mode, not powered OFF. The RED LED warns if the AGP card is incorrectly installed, or is the wrong type of card for this particular motherboard." and that's all it says.

I thought that maybe it could be a few things but im not sure:

#1-If this bulb is on, then the power supply does work, but if it works since it's a dual fanned power supply where, one fan is connected to the motherboard, why does it not work?

#2-Could the placement of the memory affect the CPU Fan from not working? If so what slot should a one stick of 512memory be placed in?

#3- USB Device Wake-Up: It a jumper that by default "will allow wakeup from the SP1 sleep state (CPU stopped: RAM refreshed: system running in low power mode) but if the jumper is changed it "will allow wakeup from S3 sleep state (no power to CPU: Ram in slow refresh: power supply in reduced power mode).

#3 seems very likely, maybe the board is in "sleep mode"? Would the Asus make this board at default in sleep mode?

You didn't hook up the front panel USB connecter to the motherboard did you? If you did, remove it and try to start it up.

I didnt hook up any connectors besides, ide, floppy, Ps, and the case led, power and reset buttons..which of course still didnt work. Maybe i put those case connectors on the wrong way? would they stop the motherboard or cpu fan from turning on?

BTW, the FSB Jumper is still on its default:

:The jumper when set to 1-2 pins (default), enable support for Front Side Bus 333/266. When set to pins 2-3, it sets support for FSB 200 only.

What are the labels of the little black square plugs that originate in your case (other than the powersupply)? And do they jive with the hook up diagram in the manual?

Check the main mother board plug to see that no pins are bent preventing contact.

Find your clear bios jumper and make sure it is on there. (maybe try clearing cmos, but I doubt it will help).
