Outdoors OUTLOOK help

from my windows 2000 pro A30 thinkpad at work, i exported my personal folders to a pst file, and burned it to a CD. when i got home, i copied that file to my desktop on my T20 thinkpad (XP), opened Outlook and tried to import the file. i get an error message that says the file can't be imported because it's not a pst file.

any suggestions, anyone?
thanks
joe

does the fille on the cd have the .pst extension? if it is, i would copy if off the cd to your hard drive and change the attributes of the file back to archive and not read only which is the state its in now.
then try importing it.

C:\Documents and Settings\BR\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

if you arent sure about the pst file that would be the target in 2000/XP but YOUR profile of course.

As SD mentioned make sure to take off the READ ONLY attribute. That one got me a fair number of times too

thanks guys, but no soap. it is not marked "read only" and it has a pst extension. outlook still insists it is not a pst file.

Ok, here's what you do. It doesn't save it as a .pst file. You should rename the file extension as .pst. I had this problem, too once before and that solved.

EDIT: Well, you made the post saying that it was. I would just make sure that it is a .pst. It might say it is on the desktop or cd or whever you have it but, check the properties box just to make sure.

If you're using MS outlook (not express) you can use the inbox repair tool
