Is Visual Studio 6 compatible with Windows 2003 Server?

Hey everyone,

A developer here at my work wants to use Visual Studio 6 on his Windows 2003 Server machine. We've installed it but he's having problems.

Is Visual Studio 6 compatible with Windows 2003 Server?

So far I haven't found anything about compatibility on the Internet anywhere.

If you do know can you include a link that I can send to him. He's a just *tad* stubborn.

Thanks,
Sean

It seems like it should be, but I couldn't even get VS 6 to install on my WinXP Pro machine..

One thing to remember is that MS was focusing 2003 server to not be a desktop OS, and was having compatibility problems with SQL server 2000 and Exchange 2000, both newer programs than Visual Studio 6.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason the developer wants to run 2003 server. Since he's the senior developer he gets his way. That's why I'm going for the compatibility problem. Otherwise I'll be wasting weeks or months on this.

I'm still looking myself, I haven't given up but still can't find anything so simple as a Microsoft software compatibility list for 2003 Server like they had for 2000 Server.

Thanks,
Sean
