Using Php to create a page w/SQL

Hey all,

I have decided to create a new webpage and try some new authoring things. Since I haven't created a real webpage since the days when all there was was HTML I am abit rusty.

I am trying to utilize php with a SQL database. My web provider gives me Cpanel and with that I have created a phpBB forum. So with that I have access to the SQL database. I would like to have users create one account that can access the forum, and be personlized for the rest of the page.

Let me tell you abit about what I am trying to create. I would like to create a webopage where amatuer authors can submit stories and other works and have the advantage of having other people read over then and post comments as well as a rating system. So I want that users account to be able to do all of that. I know its a big order for a newbie but its something I really want to do.

So does anyone have any advice or tutorials that might help me out? I could use all the help I can get.

That shouldn't be a problem, as you can use the same functionality that determines users to track users...

If you like phpBB, learn how that works with DB(mysql), as you have all the 'code'.
