Windows XP is crappin out on me, so many BSODS!

I am getting about three BSODS a day! It just started doing this this last week and it only does it while I am playing bf1942. Each time it BSODS the message is different. The last mesage told me to turn off any anti-virus or disk defragging programs and run scan disk to check for any errors on the hard drive. I can't seem to figure out why my computer keeps having these BSODS. Its not overheating, cpu never gets above 41°C(Full load) I hope its not my hard drive. i also can't use fraps tor ecord movies with anymore. This is why I am suspecting its my hard drive as there isn't a lot of hard drive activity like normal and it is recording slow. Any other things I should check out?

Thanks,
Biz

Well, the first thing I would try is updating all of your motherboard, video card, and sound card drivers.

Get DocMemory from simmtester.com and test your RAM.

Also check out your hard drive with a diagnostics tool from the manufacturer (Western Digital's DataLifeguard, Maxtor's PowerMax, etc) to eliminate the hard drive itself as the problem.

Then check hardware settings for the hard drive in the Device Manager and the bios.

another vote for swapping that ram if possible or testing it at least.

I didn't think it was the ram as its pretty new. i tested it again just to double check and it had no errors. The hard drive test came up with no errors either. I opened up my case and took out my video card. it was FILTHY! Dust clogged all inside the fan and around the fan. i cleaned all the dust off and am going to wait a day or two to see if it bsods again. I am also suspecting its the video card becasue the computer does better at night when my room is cooler than during the day when its warmer.

While you were dusting, did you happen to clean everything else in the case out too? CPU heatsink? PSU?

It seems that you have probably found the source of your problem, heat

The only time XP has gone super-BSOD on me was when I was overclocking my 2500+..

That's interesting it would only happen when playing BF1942.. Have you tried other 3d games? I found that my P3V4X would constantly die in 3d if I had AGP Fast Writes enabled; you could try turning that off.

Everything else was dust free, its just my video card becasue when i did my deskmod, the fan is blowing right on top of the video card sucking in a lot of dust. http://www.techimo.com/photo/showphoto.php?photo=3488
