there is no drivers for your ram. the bios should automatically detect it. what type of ram and motherboard do you have?

is the memory pc 100,133,2100,2700 or so forth?

most motherboards have three slots for memory. which slot you plug the memory in really doesnt matter until you deal with dual memory banks.

which banks did you install the ram into? i would suggest you take out the orginal ram out and just install the newly bought ram and see if it is detected

maybe he has a SDRAM and DDR RAM combo mainboard and is trying to use both? I tried inserting a DDR stick and a SDRAM stick into my combo Shuttle AK32 mainboard one time and it just wouldn't boot. Is it Windows just not recognizing your extra RAM? Does your RAM memory test(when you turn your PC on) display the correct amount? Get us your mainboard model number which should be on the manual and/or inked to the mainboard usually near the PCI slots.

had a similar problem with a neighbors PC. Problem was the ram was high density, and her computer just couldn't handle high density ram. Had to get half the RAM ( from 256 to 128 )...same price.

Otherwise, I agree with everyone. We could serve you better if we knew if you had a dual RAM board like the ECS KS57A which has both Sdram and DDR.
