Kids Networking Issue

OK guys, maybe you can give me some ideas here...

I have 3 PC's on a Workgroup running through a D-Link ADSL router.

All are named to their owners, and are on the same workgroup. They can see each other.
There is:
Old Dell PII450 with Win2k
Athlon 1.4 with WinXP Home
PIII Laptop with XP Home

The Dell and Laptop both work fine on the network, have the internet through the router, can share to the network and see others shares.
The Athlon is a different story. It can see other people, and view their shares. Viewing itself, you can see its shares. They just can't be accessed by the others. You cannot browse the PC at all.
Also, after a little while, the Athlon 'loses' the network. The internet still works, but it cannot see the other PC's (even mapped drives). The other 2 machines can function fine during this time. The only solution is to restart.

Is this a config error, or a hardware fault? Also, why drop the network, but still access to the internet?

Any pointers?

Cheers guys!

When the Athlon PC drops the local network, can you still ping one of the other pc's.

Pinging(ing!) is fine, however, if you ping the name of the PC (ie Dell), then you get no name resolution errors..

Send a message via AIM to Siliconjunkie
I would try uninstalling and reinstalling client for MS networks. Also set it to not be a master browser.

Try searching out Helmig's site on how to get XP Home and 2k to play nice.

Cheers
