LanParty Mobo

I just bought a LanParty Nf2 ultra and a coolermaster window. in my quest to make it cooler i'm trying to strip it of any unnessacry parts. i was wondering if I could use the round ide cable to connect my cd drive with my hard drive and then to the raid port on my mobo. That would allow me to get rid of a cord.

Not all RAID controllers support CD-ROMs. Other problem is that with IDE it will run at the speed of the slowest device. So, even if it does work there will be a performace hit.

Actually that's not true...there's no evidence to support hard drives slowing down when CD-Roms are on the same channel.

The only problems is you lose performance when you're accessing them both...because they can't be accessed at the same time.

Ok, I guess I'll keep it how it's. I might get DVD-ROM and another harddrive.
