Stupid window on startup, go away!
Every time I restart I get the stupid Norton window showing a couple norton files. I've tried minimizing and then closing, moving and closing, just closing, looking for it in the startup menu, etc., etc.
I'm in the middle of trying to squeeze every bit of power out of my new 1700 JIUHB, so I restart often and it's getting really, really annoying.
Thanks for the help!
Winodws Xp Pro, btw
EDIT: Subject says stupid window on popup, should say startup

Do you have a norton program installed?
If yes which one?
Which two files of norton are you seeing?
Second did you go to msconfig and use selective startup to take all you want out of startup? Norton has a quite a few startup items but shouldn't be showing a window with the files in it. So curious as to know which norton did you install.

Or, why is norton griping about this, perhaps you should take care of whatever it is complaining about.

I have Norton System Works 2003
I see the Norton Folder and an HTML Document (that won't open, btw) The window, SJ, is not a complaint window, it's a normal window like you see when you open a program from My Computer. The header is C:\Program Files\Norton in it are the two files I mentioned above. If I dc on the norton folder, all of the files it needs are in it.

Hmmm that is strange behavior. Can't say I have seen that. Which leads me to belive that something is still in your startup folder that is causing this behavior.
Best way to handle this is the Process of elimination method. This can be tedidious(sp?) but sometimes worth it.
run msconfig
Tick off all the items that are related to Norton related and then reboot.
If the problem disappears then tick the norton lines back in one at a time till you find the offending line. Start with those first since you know for sure its norton related.
If the problem is still persisant after unticking norton items off....then start ticking off one item at a time and reboot till the problem disappears and once it disappears tick in the last one you just unticked to see if it appears again, if it shows back up then you have found the offending file line that is causing this. Tick back in the other ones except that one to ensure its the only file causing that. Once the process is finished leave the offending file unticked and see if it affects your performance of your programs or anything, if it does not have any adverse behaviors by leaving it unticked then leave it that way.
this would be the first thing i would do before anything else.

hmmm, maybe an uninstall and reinstall would be easier?

Well I personally don't like doing an uninstall then a reinstall why? Because with most programs not all items are removed. I'd much rather take the time to troubleshoot with process of elimination to make sure its not something that can be easily fixed as leaving a line in the startup ticked off.
Uninstalling and reinstalling takes just as much time as going through the other process with the exception of the repeated reboots.

Tried everything in msconfig, nothing worked. I ended up just pulling it from the system...
