Help with a very strange dot .tk problem please?

i have a dot tk domain. If i try to access it from internet explorer, mostly I get "this page cannot be displayed" but for other people the page works fine. On the odd occasion I can access the site, I can access and leave the site as many times as I want as long as I stay in internet explorer and it will come up forst time. as soon a I come out of ie i get "the page cannot be displayed" Have tried with netscape and it worked for a while but has now started going the same way as ie. Its not just my .tk domain either its every single .tk domain I try to access. Please help if you can.

Are you using some kind of firewall? Particularly ZoneAlarm?

US if you keep up with the worthless posts I will report them.

If you try to ping them from command line do you get the correct IP?

Is this using a Dynamic DNS client on your side?
Are you hosting this on a local PC or do you have a webhost provider?

Welcome to TechIMO

(US, its ok to welcome people but ONLY if you can help the problem!)

Based on this I would suspect a DNS problem. Vass's suggestion to ping it will tell you that. If you can't resolve .tk names you should call your ISP.

Thanks Everyone. Vass im using a webhost but in the past I have hosted it myself on a dynamic ip (using no-ip to update dns) and had the same problem then. I have since upgraded computers and had the same problem on both so I have ruled out a system or explorer cache error

I had an issue with our government health dept DNS servers not resolving .tk adresses for a while. I bugged 'em and bugged 'em until the fixed it.

So it could be your ISP and their DNS servers. Bug 'em.

Cheers
Mick

Had another thought (two in one day! )

Can you get to www.tk? If not, try it by IP in the browser (http://195.20.32.85). If it works by IP and not URL, it's definitely DNS.

Not sure if your problem will include www.tk, though, as that URL is not redirected. But it may help, I hope.

Cheers
Mick
