TV out problem!!!!!!
On a ATI9700 how do you get it so when you play a video it plays it full screen on the tv out. I just switched form Nvidia to ATI. I am clueless.

Think yourself lucky that you get anything out...
I had an ati card that completely refused to see my tv, I spent weeks looking for answers on the net and sending endless emails to ati tech support - without luck.
Scrapped it in the end and bought an NVidia - Worked first time.
In answer to your question, there is normally options in the advanced settings section of display properties for things like that. You could also check to see what resolution is being sent to your tv as although you can technically send 1024x768, tv's wont accept that high a resolution and will cut it down.
Try 800x600 and see if that does anything...
If you are sending to a widescreen tv, you may need to change the aspect ratio, not sure how you would do that though.
Hope that gives you something to go on...

BS.
Enabling Theater Mode does exactly what you want - play media fullscreen on the TV-out. Note that your application MUST use hardware overlay method.
As for TV detection, some TV sets do not comply to the norms on their interface connection; latest Catalyst drivers now have an override switch to force the TV-out enabled if that happens to you.

| Hey, thats not BS at all
The problems I had with a 3 inch black box around the image was sorted out by my instructions above. That is with using an NVidia card.
As for the latest drivers supporting forced tv out - Well it's a bit late now isn't it.

Hmm, make sure your monitor isn't plugged in to your VGA port while trying to do this, and reboot.
That's all I can think of... =\

win2kuser, I meant your part about ATi cards.
Every time I've had one of those not working, it was User Error, an inappropriate cable, or a cheap TV set that wouldn't do what it should.
Once you got that sorted, TV-out quality of ATi's cards is as good as it possibly gets.

OK, I'll let you off
The problems I had with the ATI were probably down to the card being from Europe as apposed to from the UK.
When I got the NVidia card, I used the same svideo lead, the same cable to the tv, and the same tv, but it worked hmmm.

I too have had problems with ATI's TV out. I've had problems with it not displaying after switching to display through the TV and I've had problem it displaying in black and white only. Both cases were caused by the drivers being crap. I've never had a problem with Nvidia cards and TV out.
