help with text size

When you hold ctrl and scroll up and down with the mouse the text size can be changed. I noticed that some sites were able to stop this. How do I stop this? It messes up the whole layout of my site.

Yes he's saying when you boost up the font size it screws up the structure of the site. Its really not uncommon to see a site that does this.

I don't know of a fix, but how critical is it?

There maybe a way to check to see if they have it zoomed up, and if they do adjust the sizes accordingly.

I actually learned a new trick with his problem. I just tried here on the forums and it worked cool. Maybe your answer is with Scott. It doesn't mess up these forums, so maybe he has your answer.

I don't know a fix, but I will say that sites the FORCE me to look at it a certain way bug me. There are folks out there with poor vision that may need to do this to be able to read it.

that I how I am. I like being able to adjust the fonts of a website to accomodate my vision needs/likes which are typically larger fonts. I always use large fonts. Without the ability to adjust the font I don't much care for staying at the site. Im willing to deal with it if it messes up the structure because I get my way. larger fonts.

If i find out any info on how this is done i'll repost.

Okay, so it might mess up your layout - but why would you want to eliminate that feature? I use the cntl + mousewheel trick quite a bit. If you stopped me from using that site I'd probably stop visiting your site.

Sorry to be that blunt but I really like being able to enlarge/shrink the fonts when I see fit.

You can Hard code in fontsizes if you really feel that you dont want to allow people to resize fonts but I suggest that you follow the standards and allow people to be able to do so.

The reason changing the font here in the forums really doesnt change the layout is due to the fact that the "cells" that have text in them use adjustable percentages and thus can slightly increase or decrease in size to "move" with the text. Or if you dont want to have dynamic cells just hard code your cell to handle the most commonly used larger font and then the rest would fit nicely without blowing out a frame or cell if a user chose to use a smaller font.
