daveymark is on a distinguished road
5.1 speakers on a 4.1 card?
Is there any way to rig this, or do I just lose the sub and center channel altogether until I upgrade to a 5.1 card?

You should only lose the center channel. You can also set your speakers to use a reverse phantom center (or whatever you would call it).
