IE Problems

This is getting really stupid. Recently, CE had to reinstall WinXP on my system, due to what we found out later was an over heating problem, which caused some glitches to form. For that first day or so, everything seemed fine, untill..........

I sat here, surfing away, going from one page to another, when IE decided to shut down the page. I figured it was just a one time problem, but I kept an eye on things.

A day later, it happened again. This time I was here at TIMO going from the main community area, to a specific thread, and the darn thing ditched me again!

Last night, I was using KazaaLite, and would you believe this, it dumped me from that also! Not to mention, while I was on line, going from one page to another, it decided to just reboot.....

Today, I was trying to get into a thread in the community, and it dumped me back to my desktop.

I don't know what is going on here.

My specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 2100
1.73GHz
512 mgs ram
WinXP

Thanks guys!

Hi Anglecat,

I personally haven't had experience with that type of problem however the first few thoughts are to check your system with adaware, spybot search and destroy and a virus checker to rule out any virus's or trogens or browser hijackers.

Now when you say it just dumps you, does the browser completely just disappear? meaning it stoop running, not still running in task manager?

Do you get any messages saying that IE has encountered an error and will shut your browser down? Any error numbers?

What does your event logs say?

I generally get a message that IE has encountered a problem and must shut down. I have run Spybot, and have also run AVG, and the problems still persist. I am afraid it may be a heat problem, thanks to the wonderful heat wave we have been having. Thanks for your sugestions Neo!

Not sure about the temp just yet, but we think we may have found the culprit, Alexa....... Just used Adaware, and son of a gun, does TIMO come up fast now!

Alexa spyware is from your windows operating system. Its okay to remove it. Most everyone does and anytime you do a windows update it will get plopped back on and just run adaware again to remove it.

Check the temps in bois to make sure they are acceptable levels.

um I didn't hit it on the nose, You suggested it and I just suggested to check temps.

What were the temps? Maybe fan is going bad or something or you need to apply new thermal paste or something. What does CE says?

the core temp was up to 79 degrees. He was the one who suggested shutting down the DC project for now, and he is going to be looking into another fan to add to them. I will tell him about the paste idea. Thanks Neo!
