Windows Me.

I have downloaded a modem driver update from the Windows Update Site, but after restarting, my computer freezes as soon as I click on my dialup connection,I have tried a system restore but still no change.

Just taking it out and putting it back in is not going to fix it. It's going to keep the same drivers that were installed last.

You'll need to manually "upgrade" by using the "Advanced" or "Install from a list or specific location" method.

I don't have Me, so I can't tell you verbatim what's going to be on the screen. If it asks you to search for a driver, don't let it, choose the you "Have Disk" and use the driver you were using previously.

If you don't have a disk, you'll probably have to download them from the mfr's. site.

And as a side note, I used Windows Update to update a driver . . . ONCE . . . never again as you now see why.
