sharing with my bro

Hey,
I need to know if there is a prog out there that will let me and my bro oversea's connect to each other's pc's and share photo's and stuff.

Preferably something that is easy to setup.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Daniel...

Send a message via ICQ to Shawn711
ICQ has an option to put items to share in a designated folder, though I would imagine it's not the most secure way to do it as it can't be configured to only allow designated people access to it, it is an option.........probably would work best when you both are on....not really sure of any others right off the top of my head, though I am sure there are others out there.......not sure if PCanywhere would be an option here or not..........

PC anywhere... however thats probably overkill and it costs money.

Do you want to be able to actualy access each other computers or simply send the files over? If you just want to send files its easy enough, you even could do it through ICQ, AIM, or MSN messenger

You can also setup a little FTP server so he can send files to you without you having to click yes. Here is a simple one that works typsoft ftp.
It's all GUI based so it's very easy to use.

Just a thought, but IMO, ICQ or any IM that has file sending would be a good option as most pictures aren't extremely large, or can be resized to be relatively small in file size and would transfer well through those..........usually not real hard to do either..........but, like I said, that is just my opinion

An little FTP serever would work well. If your bro could host the server, then all he would need to do is set up FTP server software like Serv-U, and then let you know when he uploaded something (and leave his PC on so you can get at it!).

Another option I have never tried is a little app that lets you share files without an actual FTP server. it's called Basic File Transfer Utility and it's available here. I've never used it, but it looks like it could work fine.

Cheers
Mick

Another option is to post them on a site that hosts pics for free. I use www.villagephotos.com for my eBay stuff, it works great. He can either email you the links to the pics, or give you the password to the account and then email you when all the photos are uploaded.

If either one of you have personal web space from your ISP you or he could simply upload them there. That's what I do. My ISP allows 10 MB per email account and allows up to 7 email accounts for a total of 70 MB.
