DVD-RW more compatible than +RW

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Arti...bility%20Tests

Just thought Id share this link. A study some peeps did..I didnt read the whole thing.

here's the headline.

Compatibility results: DVD-R=96.74% DVD+R=87.32%

In that case the decision should be a little easier since -rw is a little cheaper on media costs. Then again, the dual + and - drives are coming down in costs. And 8x are either out or on the way also. (with tech stuff, it never ends)

DVD-Rs tend to be more backwards compatible with older DVD players while DVD+Rs are more neck and neck with -Rs on new drives.

Yeah, I read this somewhere, too. I use +R's and -RW's. The +R's work fine on my DVD-ROM and in my PS2. BTW, JP where did you read about the 8x dvd-burner? I wonder is Sony will come out with a new firmware revision to support it. I hope so.

Of course we all know that speed increases are just a matter of time etc.

All the laptops where I work have dvd-rom drive, which only reads dvd-r, not dvd+r.

I haven't tried whether my home dvd player works with +r/w, but it works fine with -r/w so I use that.
