win 2k install problems

ok im trying to install win 2k on a new system and when i get to the 4th boot disk everything seems ok until it gets to the part where it says starting windows 2000..... it never does anything i let it sit for a few hours to see if it need more time but nothing ever happend. i figured it may have been a bad disk so i got a new one and still nothing. What gives?

SPECS:
-------------
AMD Duron 800mhz
ATI radeon 32mb
320MB RAM

Why don`t boot from the CD drive directly? .. then you wont be needing the 4 floppy disks, because win2k`s CD is bootable...

ive tried that and it wont boot from the CD......

ive done an installation this way on another system and it worked. so what could be goin on?

it wont boot from the CD?
Did you attempt to make a backup of the CD, or download it? You'd have to burn it as a bootable cd.

Also, do you have the CD-ROM before the hard drive in your boot order (in the BIOS)?

im gonna check the CDROM out after i finish this try im going through it one more time to be certain

i got to looking ant the CDROM drive isnt even showing up in the BIOS this is an FIC AZ11 its obviously getting a signal from it cause it can tell if i got the ribbon upside down or not. what in the world???

The red stripe on the ribbon should be closest to the power connector on the drive. There should be a "1" silk screened on the mobo next to the connector. If not, just put the red stripe on the same end as the HDD ribbons.

yea i know that ive tried it both ways one way it dont show up the other way(wrong way) the green light comes on and it never comes off....
