line out audio optimized
i'm running win2k and using winamp audio to listen to music. very basic setup. i have an msi m/b with onboard ac97 generic codec.
i'd like to know how to optimize the line out audio that i'm feeding into my home stereo. my current issue is that there's a low frequency humming noise (probably line power) coming through that gets amplified right along with the audio. it's not there all the time, but enough that it's pretty freakin annoying.
i've tried turning the computer volume level to 1/2 way and messing with some of the other settings. haven't found anything that helps.
the thing is when i use my really cheap computer speakers (w/ their built-in amp), the audio is clear of all noise.
any advice would be appreciated. thx
