cookie question

hey,
every time i log into any site, close the window, and go to the same sites again, i'm logged out.
some specific sites: zachdexter.com/cphelp, phpbb.com.

both are running a phpBB board, but usually when i hit always keep me logged in it does so. my cookie settings are:
accept first-party cookies
prompt third-party cookies
always allow session cookies

any ideas?
