DFI, what do you think? :-/

Well, I finally got my RMA'd DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra 400 back from SVC. They said that they sent the board to DFI to repair it. Well, I noticed something that I didn't like.

What DFI really did to the motherboard was remove the brown seating that your BIOS sits in, in case of an upgrade or you need to replace it, it is easy, right?
Well, they must have re-programmed my bios, because I remember it being a little brown after my incident with it, and this "new" one was the same thing, with a little browning on it.
Next, they soldered this BIOS onto the motherboard, and if I ever need to replace it by myself or something like that, I can't.

But, the main thing of course is that it works, and well... it works now!

What do you guys think of DFI???

I built a PC for my brother about 2 yrs ago using a DFI board and it's still up and running great. That's about my only experience with them.

I just know I wouldn't get one of those for a performance system...just because it's pretty

They may perform OK...but a lot of boards will and do outperform it.

My thoughts concerning DFI? Its boards work and are cheap, thus they are great for OEM and consumer-grade builds. Most average consumers want price, performance is a secondary concern.

Anyway, the soldered BIOS is likely to be of little concern. Honestly, in 18+ years, I have never had a reason to change out a BIOS chip due to damage. Just make yourself a flash BIOS recovery disk, and you should be OK.
