The newer driver’s still have not had an effect. 3DMark runs, but it is distorted (flashing lights, lines, etc.) and running very slowly. I am starting to think that it could be a hardware issue like mad mentioned earlier. Any other suggestions??

After new drivers, you are still getting same error on dxdiag tests? These problems happenned before installing Amer. Army? Other than WC3 & AA, are you having problems with any other applications?

America's Army(version 1.7) has a program called cleaner.exe located in the game dir that you could try running.

I am not sure what to suggest next. Tweak Town has it's own multi-page site for optimizing your computer to play America's Army that you could look over. You don't have an unused GeForce FX 5900 Ultra sitting around just collecting dust, do you?

Highlife,

Yes, the problem occurred after Warcraft 3 was installed (working well). Then that stopped working and I installed AA in hopes that it was just something with WC3. Also, no, I am having absolutely no problems whatsoever besides for the games which made me hesitant that it was my card.

However, the driver you provided a link for was the same as the one on my computer – at least at the executable. Could DirectX be having a problem that is causing faulty driver recognition?

Interesting,

First of all, your problem with america's army is not uncommon. It is interesting to note that the radeon 7500 is not supported for this game but the radeon 7000 and 7200 are supported. I looked into it a bit over at the america army tech support forums and found that this issue has cropped up with other users trying to play that game. They suggest everything from making sure you have the latest video drivers, motherboard drivers, and sound drivers for your machine and also that you are running America's Army 1.7, and re-installing the game after removing all previous traces of it from your harddrive. Some people have even gone as far as formatting and re-installing windows with varied success.

As far as dxdiag detecting the older drivers, that could be significant. Maybe when you installed the latest drivers the old stuff wasn't removed properly. I think if you completely un-install the old catalyst drivers, reboot into safe mode, cancel out of the installation process that occurs when you reboot, and then install the latest drivers, that could hopefully remove any trace of the older drivers.

Before attempting that, however, you could try out this program called jvpowertools1.4 which has a registry cleaner tool that might help clear the trace of the older drivers. I believe the registry cleaner option is under tools and you should special select all entries that should be safe to remove after running it and before deleting entries. If you have any questions about doing that, let me know.

Now, the stranger part is the corruption within the Warcraft 3 menu and I have had little success finding much information on that yet but will post back if I do. Maybe you could take a screen shot of that so some of the more savvy video card experts around here could help decipher its meaning.

As far as the dxdiag tests go, I have looked all over for your specific message and have not found much other than what I have already suggested. Most of the time I have read that failing those tests is a driver/directx install issue and I may have seen somewhere that it could be hardware related. Sorry if that sounds vague.

Oh, and the madonion test, well I think it's a good thing you computer didn't completely blow up when you ran that. It puts signficant stress on the video card, especially the 7500 with directx9.a. You would see better results, possibly, if you went back to 8.1 and ran 3dmark2001se.

Finally, since this isn't affecting other programs, you may still be able to find a solution before determining that a new video card is in order. Granted, eventually you will need a new video card to run some of the newer games. If you aren't in any rush though, some other options on how to fix this might pop up and if I see them I will post them here.

Good Luck!

note: im new here, and found this thread through google, forgive me if I am thread digging.

ILC, I am having the EXACT same problem as you!!!

I cant figure it out, and infact, I believe I am the guy on the Americas Army forums that re-installed windows that Highlife was talking about!

I had windows2k, but wanted XP pro. Everything was ok before I upgraded, AA worked, and so did D3D. Then i reformatted and installed XP, and have had this problem ever since. I thought at first it was that I had DirectX 9.0b installed on XP when I had 9.0a installed on 2k. So I tried 9.0a, and even 8.1, both with no success. I have tried going back to 2k and that didnt work. I even tried a clean install of XP with an older Catalyst driver (the one that I had that DID work) and had no success. I cant figure it out. I think I have determined that this isnt something extra that I have thats conflicting, but its something im missing. I kept the HD that I had 2k on before I started all this ( I got a new HD to install XP on), and I put it back in, and it works! WTF! but I want XP with a new HD! Here are my specs:

Radeon 9000 pro
Win XP or 2k (I have reformated too many times the past few days :P)
Intel Pentium 3 733
VIA board (I have tried every driver!)

Because if I put my old HD in, and it works, I DO NOT believe there is a hardware defect.

I also have screenies of my problem:

The America's Army Menu (this is the 1.7 menu. The 1.9 menu has the same problem):

Dxdiags D3D 7 test, 8 and 9 are OK:
http://www.dougsoft.com/d3d2.jpg

I have made a few obsercations: In the D3D test it would apear that some vertecies are loosing their cooridinates, and being set to 0, thus pulling faces to the LEFT of the screen. Also, in the AA menu, graphics are being skewed and distorted to the LEFT.

Ingame in AA I noticed that player models had similar problems. The would have strips of pixels taht would be smeared DOWN. I may get a pic of this later.

This is a shot of the AA:O rifle range. This was done with the ALT+PrintScreen. I could not find the ScreenShot function in the menu because I couldnt see it.

This is the crap that didnt come out in the screenshot that I added in with my mad paint skills:

Its good to meet someone who actually has the same problem as me.

/me continues my google quest. If I find anything else, I will post here.
