Which processor to get????

ECS K7S5A SiS® 735 SOCKET A MOTHERBOARD
AMD Athlon 1 GHz processor
2 sticks Kingston 256MB PC2100 DDR
30GB WD Hard drive
Gainward GeForce4 ti4200 /64mb video card
Antec case with 300watt ps
TDK VeloCD 24x CDRW
Sound Blaster Live 5.1

I'm looking at upgrading the processor and the board can only go up to an XP 2400+. My question is, is it worth the extra $30 bucks to get the 2400 or go with the 1800? Here are the prices:

I am in a similar boat on CPU purchase but was considering waiting for the 64 bit cpu ???

I wouldent wait for the 64 bit cpus to come down thats way too long. I have the same mobo as you. I would have to say the 2400+ its a good chip for the price.


You can get the 1800+ and a good hs/f and OVERCLOCK THE HELL OUT OF IT. I have seen 1800+ OCed to like 2600+
