When installing 2 dimms for DC-DDR, my nForce2 won't boot
Hi guys,
I have the A7N8X rev 2.0 and I bought 2 sticks of twinmos 256Mb PC3200.
I have tested both dimms seperately and they work fine, but as soon as I install the 2nd one, it won't boot, but only beep.
Any idea what this can be??
Thanks in advance

Which slots are you putting the RAM into? I seem to recall the A7N8X having two differently-colored DIMM slots (one color was one channel, the other color was the other)

An asus P4C800 has the same setup, you can't use dual channel unless both blue or black dimm slots are filled.
If you put on ram stick in blue and on in black it will only run single channel.

That's not what I meant.
If I install more then 1 stick, it won't boot.
I know how ya have to put the sticks to enable dual channel, but it won't work for some reason.
I wanted to flash the bios today to the latest, but it said something about it not being an up to date bios rom and I had to flash that 1st??

Thats odd, a bios flash seems in order, not sure what that message you got means... I had an issue with an EPoX 8RDA+ when trying to run in dual channel... It booted, but it would not run in dual mode for whatever reason... A bios flash did however solve that problem for me.

I updated my bios using ez-flash or whatever they call it, and bios is now up to date.
But that still didn't fix my problem, so I'm taking the ram back today, and ask for other ram.
I asked them when I bought it, and I could come back with it within 8 days, so no sweat.
I'll let ya guys know how it turns out.
Thanks for the help.

I got this new ram yesterday, and this is even worse.
This ram won't work at all with this board, I'm getting sick and tired of this.
Could it be that my board is defective on the 2 dimm sockets??

Okay,
I borrowed 2 sticks of Micron PC3200 today at work to see if the board would work with those, and even with these it doesn't work with more then 1 dimm.
For me this board is marked defective and I'm bringing it back.
Thanks for the help guys.

Hopefully the new motherboard works better for you, Ultima. The one you had definitely sounds defective.

Well,
I have the new board now, but the DC-DDR seems to be non functional.
It boots, saying that it runs dual channel, but the memory bench scores even a bit lower then when I ran on single channel.
my pcb revision is 1.06, flashed to the latest update.
