Radeon = no RAM SINKS!
Ijust bought a Radeon 9500 Pro, and realized there were no Ram sinks on it! I thought that was a little wierd until I looked at other Radeon cards and NON have ram sinks! Not even the 9700 PRO!
What is this world coming to?
Looks like I'm going to have to whip out the AS adhesive and cut up some heatsinks.

I thought that was a little wierd too. The only radeon card with ramsinks is the 256mb 9800 pro. It wouldn't be too hard to add them to any of the other cards though.

At default settings, yes.
Who runs there card at default settings?
I wouldn't dare overclock my RAM without some heat dissapation on it. The core though should overclock fine.

The only reason why you'd need ram sinks is to overclock further. The only company that put ramsinks on the 128 meg version of the 9800 Pro and 9700 Pro was Hercules. To try and stand out for a catchy product. Oh yea, TYAN did something like it, but ithe entire piece was the heatsink/fan combo.
The 256 meg 9800 Pro version needs the heatsinks on the Ram is because of the DDR-II it uses.

I was going to say, why on earth would you need sinks on the RAM? My 9500 Pro has never come close to overheating, but I don't overclock it.
I'd be willing to bet that you've got a fair amount of headroom, even w/out heat sinks.

either way I'm putting them on. I will do a tiny comparison on how high I can o/c without and with them.

Sounds good joker. Maybe you should write an article about it. It'd be worth reading, definetately worth reading.

It's probably better that way anyway if you have the money to spend on RAM sinks...the stock ones are usually cheap and don't do much...
