Gainward may not make their own 5900 Ultra's

So I took the initiative to ask my question directed to sales@gainwardusa.com Mr. Wu answered my question

Quote:
That's a good question...
To be quite honest, I'm not sure if Gainward will do our own design for 5900 Ultra's.
I actually talked to Gamepc the other day and heard that MSI will make their our designed 5900 ultra's.
But currently I haven't heard of any Gainward plans...
who knows?

But our 5900 non ultra looks pretty cool and works pretty well,
Thanks
I hope that helps,

Wu
There is a possible chance that Gainward won't put their cooling apparatus onto the Ultra version. Which means, those that wait liked I did maybe be dissappointed at the end.
Looks like I'll be either getting the ASUS or the MSI Nbox.

I think it's because more people buy the mainstream instead of the top end, which is totally understandable, but how hard is it just to slap on the heatsink? --- that's what I'm waiting for on the 5900 Ultra's.. I don't want a 5900 Ultra to look like someone else's.. I want mine to stick out that shows mine is not like yours

I think it makes more sense for them to focus on ATi chips right now...they're more popular (I didn't say better) and have recent cards that seemed to promise good products down the road...whereas nVidia didn't (they have to re-gain their reputation)

of course just because MSI makes the card, doesn't mean they put the cooling on it...Gainward will still end up with their logo on it...so maybe they will do the cooling.

I like Gainward's water cooling solution for FX cards

Right now, Flextronics is producing the 5900 Ultra boards, and so far, most of the 5900 Ultra boards are using the same reference design which I don't like. I believe Mr. Wu is referring to the Nbox, Rob Richmond has submitted the news about the review of that particular card. The Nbox doesn't block the first PCI slot, and has dual fans, one for the front side of the GPU and one for the backside, and has ram sinks all over it and if the back fan blocks something or gets in the way, it can be removed.

I agree, I like the watercooling that Gainward developed for the 5800 Ultra, the design looks strikingly familar to VooDoo PC's patented watercooling system.

It's kinda difficult to create another design to cool a video card efficiently...what else is it supposed to do? people shouldn't be allowed to patent thinks like that.

Well, Voodoo's contraption is a complete water cooling It cools the CPU, GPU, and I believe the Northbridge chipset too
