Systems routers galore

right now, my internet connection is set up so that my host computer (win2000) is connected directly with the gateway through PPPoE, DSL. i have a second NIC that is connected to a hub. i have only one client computer (winXP) that is connected to that hub too. the problem is that i have to turn on the host computer for the client to get the internet. i dont want. so now im thinking about getting a router and that will solve the problem. first, whats the difference between a serial router, modular router, firewall router and dsl/cable router? a dsl/cable router should work on my PPPoE connection through SBC yahoo DSL, right? should i get a PCI router or will it be more of a hassle? the only thing i can say about PCI is that is wont take up much space and requires a lot less wiring, but u still hafta install it and stuff, which sucks. oh yea, and that thing probably needs to require my computer be turned on for it to work, too, so never mind buyign it. i never even heard of an internal router before.

A DSL/Cable router is what you want. The others are for frame relay and other types of leased lines. And usually cost ALOT more.

Going with a cable/DSL router, I recommend Linksys. They make quality products for little money.

Another good one is Netgear.
