new gaming pc
after some thought instead of upgrading my familys still good computer im gonna buy my own. i have 500 dollars to spend and already have an 80 gig 7200 rpm hdd. its gonna be for gaming only, mainly counter-strike. wat would u suggest would be best for GOOD graphics and the best gaming performance. ur help would be welcome

For that price, I'd say an epox 8rda, XP2500 at most(if you know how to OC, get an XP1700+) Radeon 9500 or 9600. Liteon 52xburner. DVD rom if u want one. Case, of course. 400watt psu.

But he needs a monitor too, I don't thinkhe can build a really good computer w/ a monitor for only $500. Unless you are lucky enough to find one while you go out dumster diving.

Hmm, with that mobo its an AMD. AMDs are low priced CPUs but do they really do better then intel in games ?

no i have a monitor already, along with speakers mouse and keyboard. and from wat ive herd shadow they do do better all around but for games im not sure. any other ideas for a comp?

An AMD 2100+ against a P4 2.1GHz will perform the same, if not a little bit better than the P4 in everything, including games. Its the same with the AMD2400+ and P4 2.4GHz, 2500+ and P4 2.5ghz, etc..... Get my drift? Thats why most people buy AMD for there gaming rig becasue of there performance and cheaper prices.

ti 4200 will do great for cs, its not a very demanding game but be sure to get plenty of ram, u'll need that.

Geil and Crucial are both good ram. Geil isnt too good at ocing though if that is what your trying to do.
I second the motion for a ti4200, i love mine.
