problems with comcast and netscape!?!?!

My parents just got comcast high speed at their home. For whatever reason, my father is unable to send mail from his netscape mail client.

He spent 2 hours on the phone today with a comcast rep. who couldn't solve the problem either.

he is getting an error about the smpt server. Now I'm 800 miles away, and I can't think of what could be causing the problem. he has turned off zone alarm, set the smpt server properly, etc.... still no go. the comcast guy said that netscape just won't work with comcast, but I don't buy it. that just doesn't make any sense at all.

ideas??

thanks in advance

-Z

For Comcast my mail settings are:

Incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net
Outgoing mail server: smpt.comcast.net

BTW, I use Netscape mail (actually it's Mozilla mail) with Comcast with no problems at all.

Don't you mean,

Outgoing mail server: SMTP.comcast.net ?

Outpatient is correct though, with that one correction added to it.

Ok I think i'm confused are you having issues with sending and receiving your netscape mail or comcast mail via the netscape pogram?

If its with your netscape mail the the smtp server is SMTP.NETSCAPE.NET and your IMAP server is IMAP.MAIL.NETCENTER.com port 143

everyone,

He wants to be able to use the netscape mail program to send and receive all of his mail. Up until now, he has used it just like you can use eudora or outlook. Multiple accounts set up within one email client. However he is now having trouple with that...

does that help clear up the question?

I don't understand what you're saying Rich. Mail is mail. Isn't it?
