cpu temp 150f

AMD 1900 "palamino"
Small Case 17.5 X 13.5 X 8
NFORCE Mainboard by ASUS
WD 40 HDD
DVD
CDRW
FDD
400 watt PSU
WIN XP Pro

This CPC is running 150 degrees f
front 60 mm case fan pulling in
PS fan in rear
vented slot covers
no rear fan hole

mainboard has everything on board so

I could mod the slot cover area
and stick in another 60mm fan to exaust

This won't last at 150 degrees any ideas?

is that one 60mm fan the only case fan? ...that's NOT enough...even two 60mm fans (one in one out) isn't enough...

so perhaps add a slot fan
or mod the top of the case to vent the CPU?

You might need to look into a new case...slot fans are next to worthless ... a fan duct might be the only thing to save the CPU.

to make things worse the PSU
shuts off the top of the fan and that
cuts down on the air flow

I just stuck in a
Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3
a 7000 RPM fan

LOUD!!!!

still no better
well perhaps a few degrees
got another case here
guess its gotta be done
thx

The problem is the air in the case is so warm..it needs good airflow and it doesn't seem like you'll be able to get that with the case you're using.

You'll need a case with a fan in the side (to blow in) and a fan on the top (to suck it out). I had to make those with my duron case after I put in an xp1700 palo. That combinations seems to work the best.

well I put it all in a large case
with a quiet 5500 TT HS & Fan
one 60 mm in front
PSU fan
room temp 78

cpu has ran awhile now and it is holding at 125.5f / 52c

is this still too hot?
the mainboard is 105.5f

Your proc is definetly in need of some cooling.

The basic rule of case fans is that the blowers in the front and side panel are intake, and that air is blown out the top and rear fans. This way you create a balanced airflow, as long as you have an equal number of fans (2, 4, 6, 8 if you don't remember ). If your in the market for a new case, the one I'm considering for my own box is at:

https://www.casedepot.com/proddetail...inenumber=419#

My only complaint is that they force me to mod this thing in order to jive with what I said above. Making me poke three fan holes in the top and another in the rear? Dude! Yes I know that's a total of 9 fans, controlled by a rheobus though so the noise isn't deafening, but I've seen to many cases (pun not intended) that "feature" horribly inadequate fan placements. One box I have (unused) sits in a case with a single fan cage, and it's in the front where it sucks in air with no place to go.

The moral is, Remember The Flow, And Your Good To Go.
