BSOD on a once stable rig...Help needed.

My system specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
1 gig PC2700 DDR Ram
Asus A7V333 Mobo
Nvidia GeForce 4400 TI 128 Vid Card.
80 Gig IBM HD.
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition.

This was a once stable system where a blue screen of death has NEVER occured. But last night I go to turn on the system and after a few minutes, the BSOD appears and dumps me back to the restart screen. I have no chance to see what the error is and it is occuring nearly every few minutes the system is on. I have SP1 and everything is up to date. Scandisk has not picked up any errors. Please, if anyone can help me with this problem, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time.

It sounds like a RAM module going bad to me. You might want to run a memory testing program like DocMemory from simmtester.com.

It will tell you if you have a memory chip going bad.

How new is that video card? Could be power supply also. What is brand name wattage and amp ratings on 5.0v 3.3v and12.0v rails?
Is it a one gig stick? If in pairs alternate each stick in different slots. Can you repeat the problem?

The vid card is about a year to two years old now. All the drivers are currently up to date. I apologize, I'm not that technically proficient to supply you with the specs of the power supply. I know it is a 300 watt PS for sure. The ram is in pairs and I have already attempted to alternate slots to no avail.

Have you looked at event viewer? It will write an entry in the system log when it bluescreens.

Try removing one stick of ram and then running the system.. if not then remove it and put the other stick in.. and see if that works.. if it works with only 1 of the sticks of ram in then its most probably one of your sticks of Ram.. (you can run them in singles on this board).

i think its your power supply. Ir's failing. These ti cards draw way too much power for a 300 watt PSU to handle. Especially a stock generic PSU. I believe that is what you have since you aren't up on it. I will make one recommendation. Antec TruePower 350 430 or 480 watt PSU. It's hard to diagnose over the internet, so just keep everything in perspective.

Hmm.. I don't think it would be the power supply as it was working stable before .. and a 300 watt should be fine for that card. I have run a Ti4200 on a 300 watt no problem with 4 ide devices and 4 fans.. and a Ti4400 doesn't draw much more power.
