Gaming My Mobo Chipset is Hotter than My CPU!!!! Why?

I got a Asus P4C800-Deluxe with 2.4C @ 3ghz and 2 sticks of 512mb Kingston HyperX PC3500 @ 400mhz.

My problem is.

Why the heck my tempture for my Mobo Chipset is higher than my CPU??? it's higher by 3~5C even at full load. I got a Vantec TMD heatsink + fan combo for the CPU and a tiny slot A fan that fitted on my Mobo Chipset heatsink.

Why!?Why!?Why!?

Its been hot here the past few days, turn the ac UP---
Its may have something to do with a 600 mhz oc--(P4's are GREAT eh?)
Notice the deluxe has about the LARGEST passive sink ever on that NB---it does get hot and Asus tried to take care of it---
You could buy an active heatsink for your NB or---take the passive one off, touch up the NB with ArcticSil and silicone a fan onto the passive sink---(silicone dabs on the fans corners)
Could also add an intake fan to the caseside blowing right on the important bits---
Is it unstable at all?
Are you sure you are getting an accurate temp reading between the 2?

Edit---OIC a slot A fan already on the stock h/s
Try the ArcticSil treatment, or wackin a hole in the side---
OR- dont worry about it if nothing dramatic is happening...

I am out shopping for a Chipset cooler but it is hard to find a chipset cooler that is specified to work with 875 chipset. No big problems occurs with high temperture except i think it is limiting my OC potentials.

But mostly, it just bothers me that Chipset is hotter than my CPU. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Where are your readings coming from? Maybe the sensors are backwards.

Cheers

I got it from the newest version of Asus Probe. ATM i am running 30C for CPU and 35C for MB chipset. I've double checked to make sure nothing is blocking the airflow from or to the chipset.

What Mobo chipset cooler is appropriate for my problem?

The fact that it's hot is good... means it is drawing heat from the chip into the heat sink. Now, just pass more air over that heat sink to remove that heat and exhaust it (hot air) out the box.

I fear I state the obvious

Anyone know a good active cooler for my Mobo Chipset? I can't really find one that is active and is specified for 875(northbridge).

Suggest needed. Thanks in advance.

Goto your local Fry's Electronics there are 3 near you:

6100 Canoga Ave.
Woodland Hills, Ca 91367

2311 N. Hollywood Way
Burbank, Ca 91505

3600 Sepulveda Blvd.
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266

Purchase a fan thats about the size of your stock BIGGER THEN USUAL NB heatsink, remove it and use small dabs of silicone to attach the fan to your heatsink (drys in an hour or so) add some Arctic Silver paste to it and you got a highbred cooler that didnt cost much---(didnt I say that previously?)
