Remote OS Installation

Hello all,

I've just setup RIS and have trying to configure it to install several operating systems. My problem is that RIS keeps giving me an invalid computer name error during the installation.

I have tried several different naming conventions, including all of the preset naming options and several customs. Have any of you seen this problem before?

as im still learning RIS at work, did you grab the mac address number and put it into active directory

It looks like that's working, I'm searching for a way around that (kind of annoying) but thanks for the help!

yah when we do a school, we have to go to EVERY single computer and grab the mac address and enter the computer into the active directory. please if you do find an easier way share! would make my life so much easier!

Try opening Active Directory user & Computers, then properties of your RIS server, then Remote Install tab, then uncheck "Do not respond to unknown client computers".
