SB Live! vs. Audigy

I have a sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1, I have been thinking about getting a Augigy wich is 24 Bit, How much better does the Audigy actually sound?

For listening to MP3s, video games, etc? None. Unless you're a complete audiophile. I don't notice the difference between my Audigy and the AOpen 5.1 card I have.

Now, if you're doing anything serious with it, like sound production, or effects, then you'll want to think about getting and Audigy. The Audigy & Audigy2 CPU is a lot faster than the SB Live! and faster than a lot of production specific audio cards out there as well.

I had a SB Live! value and then got the Augidy Gamer as a present. I'm no audiophile since I use my box for gaming almost all the time.

As far as I can tell there was no real difference in audio quality although I was able to use the digital out but I really couldn't say I noticed a difference compared to analogue(?) (me R speel gud)

Sorry I couldn't help out more.

Audigy 2 does cost 78 at the egg with no control panel. If u want the control panel thats like 100-150 more dollars. Installation is easy and it doesnt have to go in the drive i dont even think its made to go into the drive it can lay around which is good.

Audigy's are not 24 bit. It's been confirmed by Creative's own technicians. Save up your cash and get an M-audio revolution.

Only the Audigy2s are 6.1. The Audigy is only 5.1.

MD:
I thought they were? At least that's what they claim in their product specs.

It's their claim but it's false. Ask anyone.

MD-

Not sure why you believe the Audigy 2's don't support 24 bit...any links?

From what I found regarding it's limitations on the 24-bit issue is that it can’t record in 24-bit using ASIO drivers (which reduces latency)...got that from a Maximum PC Review which is an excellent source of accurate information IMO...

If you choose the M-Audio card, it does have excellent sound quality, some say better than the audigy...but it lacks its own onboard processor and uses your main proc...bringing down performance...this card is usually recommended for musicians...certainly not gamers.
