Pin broke off, any way to fix it?

Hi,
You know where the female end of the AC adapter plugs into the male pin on the laptop? Well, the male pin broke off. Is there any way to fix this?
TIA,
david

The only way I can think of fixing this is to solder another pin on... it could be done but it'd probably be pretty hard. Either that or try and find a whole new piece for the laptop, then take it apart and replace it.

If you have a warranty on it just exchange it for a new one...it would be difficult to replace it though

The warranty ran out last month(of course!) but I took it to a computer repair shop and they said hp doesn't have that part.
What if I took it to an electronic repair person or soemthing?

If you can find a device that uses the same size plug, you could probably desolder it and solder it in your laptop. A little risky though. An old-school, "times are stuff, ain't got no money" ghetto trick is take take the old pin, place it in the female socket, and plug it in. It does work, but is unreliable b/c of the loose conectivity.
