Outdoors invalid boot.ini--not going into windows

I am getting really furstrated with my computer.
I have 2 hard drives. One has windows xp and the other I install all my games on with no OS on it. For the last 2 months I have been getting the invalid boot.ini but it always booted into windows still so I didn't think anything of it. I got a new 2400xp amd to put in my asus a7a266 mobo. When I put it in it fried my mobo and 1 piece of RAM. no clue why....anyways I bought a kt400 dragon ultra black. I put the mobo in and hooked both hardrives up etc. When I went to boot up it said invalid boot.ini and then just restarts. I might get the smallest flash of the windows loading screen but it just restarts. I installed xp on my other hard drive hoping to do something from there but success. I can boot into my gaming hard drive and do whatever from there to the other hard drive so it works but it doesn't boot up. I don't want to have to red/l all the updates and sp1 again. So HOW DO I BOOT INTO MY ORGINAL OS HARDRIVE?? I have tired bootcfg /rebilud....fixboot....fixmbr. On fixmbr it said the boot record was either non-standard or corrupt. I hope that is enough info for ya. PLEASE HELP!!! I just bought Star Wars Galaxies and I need to play. Thanks

Get to a command prompt and edit your Boot.ini file so that it's defualt boot is to the operating system/harddrive that you want it to boot to. I had a problem with my boot.ini just a few days ago, and to edit it I had to make a bootdisk from Bootdisk.com and download the bootdisk for XP (which included the EDIT.com command) Once the boot disk is in and you are at the C:\ prompt, type in A:\Edit.com and it will bring up the EDIT program where you can edit a file you select. Be careful in editing the boot.ini file though, make sure you know what you are editing.
