Kids A+, Network+, ITIL, MCSA ??

Hi all

I'm applying for a new job, a bit out of my range of education (telecommunications). This job starts with a training for 2 months. The training includes several certifications from Exin, Comptia and Microsoft.

Although I don't need to know much about it for the interview, I still want to prepair myself and hope to know a bit more about those certifications like A+, Network+, ITIL, MCSA then I do now.
Just to get a headstart from other applicants. Its better to say you have heard about it and know what it is.

I don't know if you experts can give me a short description of those certifications, so I would be better prepared for a job interview.

Thanks

Okey I eventually found out from their website what I can expect:
(it was kinda hidden)

15 days:
A+ Hardware: installation, configuration and upgrade, troubleshouting.
MoBo's, CPU's and memory
Printers
Basic network knowledge

Another 15days:
A+ OS:
Command Line Prompt commands.
Installation, configuration, upgrade and troubleshooting Windows '9x/NT4/2000

5 days:
ITIL Foundation
Communication training

This doesn't sound to hard for someone with already computer/windows experience, is it?

BTW does MSCA cover windows and office or does it go into system administration too?

15 days each for A+ core?! Wow! When I went to a class for it, 4 days Hardware, 1 day OS. You really need just more than Windows experience for A+. You need to be able to identify hardware technologies. From the past and to the present. The tests change so often, it's best to go to CompTIA's A+ page and look at the requirements and what you're going to get out of it.

I can tell you, when I took the class and the tests, you had to know DOS 6.22 commands . . .

I believe the MCSA is just Windows technology, nothing to do with Office. If I'm not mistaken, that covered under MOS certs.

Definitely look at the respective certification companies websites about their certifications.

MCSA is actually four separate courses/exams that cover Windows 2003 Server, XP Professional, networking with MS software and *I think* MS Exchange OR SQL Server OR it could be something else entirely, not 100% sure.

30 days of classes for A+ is a bit much. 30 days for the MCSA maybe but not for the A+.
