WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe: Wierd noise

Greetings people. I need your expert assistance. I just picked up a WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe by Leadtek from Frye's yesterday, installed it, ran it, I love it, everything is working as smooth as lemon morangue pie...

With the exception of switching channels... whenever I change the channel when watching TV, it makes a "Kkush" buzz noise, as the old school analog dial TV's would make. Just once every channel i switch, "kkush-kkush-kkush". But it's quite loud when I'm watching TV with the volume up!!!

Interestingly, when I flip through the channels very very rapidly, there is no "kkush" sound.

I called Leadtek tech support, and the dude said that this was the first time he ever heard anything like this. He advised me that I should rearrange my speakers, speculating that there was some intereference between the signal > TV card > Speakers... but i just did that to no avail. I'm LOST! Help! Thanks people.

- Eric

mine does the same thing I think it is more noticable if you have good speakers. Sorry but I am pretty sure you may just have to live with it like I have.

Well that stinks!

At least I know i'm not alone... but i'm still going to do some poking around to see if I can find any solutions. So far it appears to be a rare occurance.

What type of speakers do you have? And Sound Card? I have a set of Harmon Kardon sound sticks with a pretty hefty subwoofer, as well as a Creative SB Live...

The guy who said it's the first he's heard of this problem has just got to be lying. Either that or it was his first day on the job.

I used to have this issue with my TV card, Hauppauge WinTV-GO. It may sound like a minor issue to people who don't know, but I do know, it's a major disappointment.

The problem for me was eventually fixed with newer versions of drivers and updated TV viewing applications.

My solution I used until the company finally fixed it is not a very simple one, but it did work. I used a macro program (Macro Express 2000 to be exact, but there are countless macro programs out there). I made two macros, for clicking up through the channels and down through the channels. All the macro did was first activate mute, then change the channel either up or down, then deactivate mute. It worked beatifully.

Another idea that might work is to try using a different TV viewing application. Dscaler is the best known 3rd party TV viewer that works with most TV cards.

OMG your Macro solution is by far the best (not to mention the only) valid solution I've heard so far!!! But how exactly do you do it? I've never created macros before... could a person like me be able to create one for my PCTV?! Or, could you point me to the right direction... THANKS
