Compaq FP700 problems! HELP FAST!!!

I have a Compaq FP700 Flat panel monitor that is connected to my ATI Radeon rage LE Pro through the digital connector. When i start my system up, I get a message saying my display drivers are bad. I have installed new ones, but it never changes. It will only let me have the monitor in 640x480 in 16 colors mode. When I try to change the settings, it asks to restart. When I restart, it gives me the same display message and goes back to 640x480. Please help me asap.

Okay, do you have the latest drivers for DirectX and your video card? Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from compaq's website?
