Just testing overclockability and...
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP 2100+ Tbred-B
PC2700 Kingston Value RAM
Alpha PAL 8045 w/ panaflo fan
Using the setup above, I simply inscreased the multiplier up as far as it would go without messing with the front side bus. Overclocked my 2100+ (1.7Ghz) to a so-it-says 2.3Ghz!
Is this true??? God I hope so! No voltage increases, fsb adjustments or anything, and even sisoft sandra benchmarks it up passed a 2.66 533fsb pentium 4!
Is it really that easy? How about a link to commonly used cpu benchmark programs, because I'm new to overclocking and don't want to use anything untrustworthy...

Excellent!
SiSandra is a good benchmark. You can also try PcMark03 as well
What you really need to do is run CpuBurnIn or Prime95 for at least an hour or even better a day. This will tell you if your system is stable at those speeds.
The thing about bumping up your FSB is that it increases data transfer between your CPU, memory, video etc. This will make a considerable difference. But you may want to change to PC3200 for this.
Oh and keep track of your temperatures (cpu shouldn't go above 60c).

Well, the Alpha PAL keeps the CPU below 42C under full load, and plus my friend and I are currently playing around with peltier coolers in an effort to cool even better. My main goal with those, however, is to get rid of my noisy VGA fan. So heat isn't a problem.
I was just wondering if upping the multiplier this far is really possible (17x multiplier).

Oh...no...
I set the BIOS to "aggressive" settings in addition to the 17x multiplier...now the system won't POST, even after clearing CMOS What did I do??

I'll also add that there's no error codes coming from the board at all, i.e. no speaker beeps

Any life at all? Try pulling the battery and reinstalling it after 30sec.

You reset the cmos and still nothing? Doesn't sound good...but I'd try popping the battery out and putting it back in as cyclist110
suggested...good luck and keep us posted.
