WinXP BSOD

Hi, I`m getting a few bsod errors with my XP box. It will come when an app is closed or sometimes while playing a game. It says bad_pool_caller. Any ideas on that on.

Have all updates installed for XP.

Thanks Doot.

I had same error today. Pretty weird. My friends pc got some virus. So I cleaned his drive up and all that. That drive was booting with no problems. He decided he wanted a new install on a bigger drive. So I go to install W2K and get the bad_spool_caller error message. He had 396MB of ram, two 64MB and one 256MB sticks. Once I removed the two 64MB sticks and put the 256MB stick in the DIMM1 slot, everything worked fine.

I only have 1 stick of 512 ddr ram, bios is set to spd.

I had memorey errors with my last box that had 2 sticks of sdram (2*256) so I changed the mobo and mem in one go.

Have you run memtest86 yet, just to be sure? What brand is the 512 megs of ram, and have you cleared it with asus' approved list? www.memtest86.com

Memtest86 came up ok, tried simmtester aswell. A new update popped up on win update, installed that and haven`t had a BSOD for a week now. So maybe it was something to with a previous update, I don`t know.

Thanks jmebonner, Doot
