I have this gigabyte mobo and on the specs it lists the max cpu is a 1.4 tbird w/200 mhz fsb. I was able to get a tbird that is rated at 266 fsb @ 1.4 ghz. Will this work in this mobo and just run at the slower speed like pcram doesor am I wasting my time.

Thanks,
Scott

Go to gigabyte's web site. Under the FAQ for the GA-7IEX4 it says it will support 200/266fsb. May need a BIOS update otherwise it will show the CPU as a 600Mhz Athlon.

7IXE4 uses the AMD750 chipset, which does NOT support 133 MHz CPU bus.

If you put a 1400/133 CPU into it, it'll run at 1050 MHz instead.

Gigabyte's site DOES list it as 200/266 under the FAQ of this board. Claims a BIOS flash is all that's needed.
