CD-RW incongruities

After buying a Cendyne 48x16x48 burner at Christmas for 20 bucks at the local officemax, i burned a few test disks at 48x...everything worked great...continued to use the drive into the year, until about a month ago, after burning 3 cd's in a row at 48x i got a burn error for the first time. Now, i can't burn at anything faster than 32x without getting errors. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks.

Do you have different brand CD-Rs? Maybe it's those.

unfortunately, i don't...just bought a 100 pack of imations before this happened....but the imations i had before that worked great, up until the trifecta wore the drive out.
